Adi Kailash also known as the Chota Kailash Trek, this trek is not just a spiritual pilgrimage. Part of this trek follows the Kailash Mansovar trek route before diverging at Gunji to head towards Jolingkong and Parvati Sarover.
Starting from Dharchula with a winding drive to Sosa, this trek passes through some of the remote villages of Kutthi Yangti Valley on the Indo – Sino – Nepal border. After passing by the villages of Budhi, Napalchu, and Gunji, you take yourself to Jolingkong almost at the base of Adi Kailash. A small hike through the glacial moraine takes you to the beautiful lake of Parvati Sarover almost at the base of Adi Kailash.
According to the puranas the importance of this place was the main stoppage of lord shiva’s marriage, which originated from Adi Kailash
Om Parvat is of great religious significance to the Hindus and it is named so as the snow on the mountain resembles the OM sign, which is holy for both the Hindus and the Buddhist.
The most clear and perfect view of the Om Parvat can be seen from Nabidhang, which is very close to the famous Lipulekh pas, on the Kailash Mansarover route. Lipulekh pas crosses over from India to Tibet. It separates from Gunji, and can be visited on return.
Jolingkong is also the base of the Sin La pass to cross over to the Darma Valley on the other side.
